Nottingham student nurses shortlisted for 6 Nursing Times Awards

Students studying at the University of Nottingham and Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust (NUH) have been shortlisted for six Student Nursing Times Awards, in a record year for entries.

The Student Nursing Times Awards are the eighth annual awards hosted by Nursing Times to celebrate the achievements of the student nursing community.

The next generation of Nottingham nursing talent has been recognised on this year’s shortlist, with four students nominated in the following categories:

  • Learner of the Year - Phoebe Miles,
  • Outstanding Contribution to Student Affairs - Rachel Dakin,
  • Student Nurse of the Year: Adult - Danielle Dunne and Kirk Hobster,
  • Student Nurse of the Year: Children - Rachel Dakin.

As well as recognising outstanding new talent, the Awards also honour  lecturers and universities, celebrating the institutions helping to make nursing an inclusive, innovative, and patient-focused profession.

This year sees the University of Nottingham’s Graduate Entry Nursing Course shortlisted for Nurse Education Provider of the Year (Pre-registration), an award that honours establishments offering high standards of academic and practical teaching.

The University of Nottingham’s School of Health Sciences BME Student Network has also been nominated for the Mary Seacole Award for Outstanding Contribution to Diversity and Inclusion for its contribution to creating an inclusive and supportive environment for patients, students, and staff.

Head of the School of Health Sciences, Professor Joanne Lymn, said: “ We are absolutely delighted that once again our nursing students feature heavily in the nominations for these sought-after awards. The special recognitions for all the nominees are testament to the hard work and dedication of both students and staff here coupled with the support of Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust in their extensive training on clinical placements. We wish them all luck on the day of the awards ceremony, but they are already winners as just to be nominated is a great achievement!”

The Student Nursing Times Awards will take place on Friday 26 April at Grosvenor House, London. See the full shortlist here.
