PEARfect response to feedback as fruit & veg stall comes to NUH

Roots, fruits & shoots are coming to Queen’s Medical Centre and Nottingham City Hospital…all in response to patient and staff feedback.

A daily fruit and vegetable stall is coming to Nottingham’s hospitals in the coming weeks, bringing. The new fruit and veg stall will open at QMC (main entrance) on Monday 8 July and to City Hospital (outside Main Outpatients) from Monday 22 July. The stall will be run by a local supplier from Leicester, selling fresh local produce, and will open daily, Monday to Friday, 8.30am-4.30pm. Cash and cards will be accepted and Facebook ordering available.

Chris Neale, Catering Lead at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust, said: “As a healthcare organisation, it is right that we promote healthy eating and healthy lifestyles to patients, visitors and staff. This is a really welcome, healthy addition to our hospitals, and we hope it will help to promote these positive messages and importantly reduce the prominence of smoking outside our hospitals which is a source of frustration to so many of our patients, visitors and staff.

“The new fruit and veg stalls are also in direct feedback to feedback from our patients and staff who told us they wanted stalls outside their local hospitals, so we’ve acted on this. It makes it easy for people can get quality fruit and veg on their doorstep, with staff able to buy it as they come into work or on their way home. It’s ideal. It will also be great to see visitors buying fruit for patients too.”

Laiten Mcguigan from Roots, Fruits & Shoots, said: “At Roots, Fruits & Shoots We take pride in our company and pride in delivering outstanding service, quality produce, at fair prices. We look forward to bringing our service to Nottingham University Hospitals and providing a healthy alternate and incentive to staff, patients and local residents.
