Saying ‘thank you’ to ‘stand out’ staff and volunteers at Nottingham’s hospitals

Have you received exceptional care, treatment and service from staff and teams who work at Nottingham’s hospitals? Has one of our volunteers stood out to you when you have visited our hospitals? If so, you can nominate them for a special award so they get the recognition they deserve for going the extra mile for their patients and families.

The Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust annual staff awards are now open for nominations. Categories include: team of the year, unsung hero of the year, volunteer of the year award, caring and helpful award and clinical star award.

Marion Nelson, from Clifton, has high praise for the care her father received at City Hospital earlier this year. She, said: “I don't believe that I am the only person who this person has helped. If she has made as much of a difference to other people as she has to me, people’s trip to the hospital will be a much better experience. If you have a calm patient then everyone’s day becomes a lot brighter, there should be one of her on every corridor to help people and the world would be a much happier place!”

These annual staff awards for NUH are supported by sponsors including the Nottingham Hospitals Charity.

Barbara Cathcart, Chief Executive of Nottingham Hospitals Charity, said: “Each day our amazing NHS staff deliver exceptional care to thousands of patients, through winter pressures and summer heatwaves.  It is our immense privilege to shine the light back on them through the NUHonours Awards and celebrate the commitment, enthusiasm and care they give. Over the last year it is incredible that our frontline teams have raised almost £110,000 to support enhancements to their wards and patient services. So if you know of any amazing individuals or team who have gone above and beyond in their charitable endeavours then it’s not too late to nominate them.”

Nominations can be made via https://www.nuh.nhs.uk/submit-your-nomination where full details of the categories can be found. The closing date to submit your nomination is 7 September. The shortlist is announced in October and the winners will be revealed on 23 November.
