Love Notts Nurses and Midwives

logo Nurse and Midwife of the Year Awards

We value and honour our Nurses and Midwives at NUH. Our awards have been going for 4+ years now and we look to hear from patients, carers, family members and hospital staff about the people who have gone the extra mile for them.

The awards are held in partnership with The Post, Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust and Nottingham Express Transit.

2017 Winner – Student Nurse Christina O’Loughlin

Christina is a student nurse who worked at QMC. She is following in the footsteps of her mother Wendy, who also works as a nurse at the hospital. She graduates in December and hopes to return to NUH when fully qualified. Her tram was unveiled during a special ceremony at the end of July.

She said:

I am still overwhelmed that I was initially nominated for the award and then went on to be the overall winner. I am so grateful that a family took the time to nominate me whilst their child was in hospital and that the public took the time to vote for me. I feel so privileged that my name will be on a Nottingham tram. I have had so much support from my family, boyfriend, the university and my mentors whilst on placement at NUH, who have helped me throughout the course.

International Nurse and Midwife Day

cake International Nurses Day is celebrated around the world every May 12  and International Day of the Midwife is celebrated on May 5.

Every year at NUH we mark this day and celebrate our profession and around the organisation to show our appreciation for our hardworking colleagues.

In previous years we’ve seen tea parties being held and each clinical area received a cake kindly supported by Nottingham Hospitals Charity.
