A little thanks can go a long way. If you work with someone truly amazing, you can nominate them for a People First Recognition Award.
Any member of staff, at any level, can be nominated under the most relevant award category.

Charity Champion
This award celebrates the thousands of hospital staff who volunteer each year to support the work of our hospitals charity through fundraising or the creative use of charity funds, or who help raise funds for their hospital area.
Demonstrable examples
A person or team who...
- have used creativity to fundraise or creativity in the use of charity funds
- have involved others and helped raise awareness of our hospitals charity
- have used fundraising as a team-building exercise to help improve staff morale
- have received positive feedback from patients and families for their hospital charity work
- have made a significant contribution to the charity’s funding or funding for their area
Hidden Gem
This award recognises the contribution of staff who provide invaluable behind the scenes support and go over and above in their role to support the work of others and the Trust. (Please note this award is not for front line/clinical staff or anyone who directly cares for patients).

- is committed to supporting their colleagues
- always works diligently and is willing to help others
- contributes to the success of their team through their positive can-do attitude and actions
- goes over and above in their role and makes or has made a positive difference
Inclusion
This award applauds the efforts of staff who excel in their commitment to equality and inclusion, and who champion inclusivity.

- treat people as individuals and value everyone’s contribution

Innovation
Our innovation award showcases staff who strive to achieve and who implement or embrace ideas or solutions that result in new or improved services or ways of working.

- regularly contribute ideas and solutions to workplace challenges or issues
- apply new approaches to streamline processes or increase efficiency

Inspirational Leader
This award celebrates inspirational leaders who inspire and motivate others, foster a collaborative culture and lead by example.

- always finds time to listen or offer support and guidance
Lifetime Achievement
This award honours the contributions of staff who have dedicated 25 years or more to NUH or the NHS and have demonstrated a commitment to providing support and care to patients and staff.

- demonstrates an ongoing commitment to providing support and care to patients and staff
- makes a difference and always has a positive attitude
- has led or supported improvements in care or working conditions
Outstanding Team
This award celebrates teams who deliver exceptional results to patient care or service delivery by working together to achieve their goals, or whose efforts and hard work have overcome significant obstacles or resulted in remarkable improvement(s).

- value everyone's contribution and use the skills of others

Partnerships
This award recognises collaborations and partnership working across the Trust that have made a significant difference to the way we work. This can be between internal teams (MDT) or as part of wider collaboration with external partners.

- have actively sought, developed and/or sustained partnerships for the benefit of the Trust
- can demonstrate evidence of savings, value for money or positive improvements through partnership / MDT working

Patient Experience
This award recognises staff who help improve the delivery of exceptional patient experience through the continued use of insight, engagement and effective communication.

- are sensitive and respectful, and recognise how their behaviour or decisions can impact others
- work with others and encourage learning and development to ensure we are doing the best for our patients

Rising Star
This award celebrates growing talent and the outstanding contribution of apprentices or students, or someone new to the Trust who is dedicated to improving themselves or making improvements through training or learning.

- regularly contributes or brings new ideas to their own or wider teams
