A Series of Watercolour Paintings

Location: D Floor, QMC

A collection of watercolours by various artists including Richard Ackerman and  Sue Kavanagh.

Sue Kavanagh studied Fine Arts at the Byam Shaw School of Art and then worked for BBC Television doing animations then illustrations for Odhams Press.

Sue likes working with watercolours as it is a medium that suits her. Used with delicacy and sensitivity, it can show slight nuances in the ever changing light, shadow and atmosphere seen in nature and the varied effects on the most ordinary everyday objects.

  1. Outside, by a stretch of water. An iron bench with a wooden seat. Tall red flowers and the spreading branches of a low tree. Dappled shade on a hot day. There’s a distant shore.

  1. A big wicker basket of fruit. Apples or peaches and a pineapple. Next to it some plums and a bowl of strawberries. A small flowering plant grows next to them. There’s a red scarf under. They’re all on the windowsill and the window has a brass finger pull – it's a sash window.
