24 hours in A&E Series 2 Episode 6: Brave New World

The latest episode of 24 hours in A&E, which is back on our screens tonight, follows three patients who have been brought into Queen’s Medical Centre (QMC) for urgent care. The RTS award winning documentary series is on Channel 4 from 9pm on Thursday 20 March at 9pm.
During the episode, we also meet Trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP), Emily, who shares what it’s like to work in one of Europe’s busiest A&E departments and how lucky she is “to go into work everyday and meet brave and courageous people”.
40-year-old Andrew has been rushed to QMC with a severe facial injury after a piece of machinery hit him in the face at work. Emily and the other clinicians on duty are concerned about possible broken bones and permanent nerve damage to his face. Maxillofacial surgeons will need to work out how best to close Andrew’s large wound and assess his outcome for the future.
Father of three, Tony is brought into A&E after trapping his leg under a forklift at work. While Tony is taken for an immediate x-ray, we hear about his life as a single father and his quest to find true love.
61-year-old, John is on the resuscitation ward after suffering blackouts that caused him to fall down the stairs. The doctors on-duty need to establish whether the blackouts are caused by his brain or heart. His daughter, Laura is there for support and opens up about her incredible bond with her father and how he cared for her following a harrowing domestic violence incident.
24 Hours in A&E has become a beloved Channel 4 documentary, with over 300 episodes showcasing the reality of emergency care. In 2023, the series returned to QMC for another impactful season.
