£5.7m theatre upgrade at QMC

A £5.7m project to upgrade QMC's surgical theatres starts next week, delivering a new ventilation system.

The hospital provides around 16,000 surgical procedures each year for patients from across Nottinghamshire and the East Midlands.

Mike Bennett, Divisional Director for Clinical Support at NUH, said: "This is an important investment in our theatres service and one that will mean our theatres are more efficient, providing an even better service to patients.

"This is a significant project that will be completed by spring 2020. We do not expect any impact on patient services."

Modular (temporary) theatres are being put in place in the West Block staff car park at QMC to allow the improvement works to be carried out. Some patient car parking spaces will be re-designated for staff during this period to minimise disruption.

We ask patients, visitors and staff to consider using the tram to get to QMC and public transport where this is possible to minimise the pressure on car parking at our hospital.
