Nottingham artists team up for Bee Gees classic to support charity

Nottingham based baby loss support charity, Forever Stars, are ending the year on a high by launching their very own charity single – a cover of The Bees Gees Classic - ‘To Love Somebody’ by Forever All Stars. There is also a video to support the track telling the story of the charity, its supporters, and the artists recording of the track.
The song is performed, sung and produced wholly by Nottingham artists, who all gave their time and talents free of charge. The idea came about after a conversation between Jo Sharp, Operations and Fundraising Manager of FS and Si Taylor a local singer, songwriter and musician, following a local music fundraiser for the charity in September.
Jo Sharp of Forever Stars said: "As with all losses, the milestone of Christmas is particularly difficult for families, especially those who have lost babies, and the single was recorded in the hope that it would help to break the taboo subject of child loss, encourage families to talk about their babies and remove that feeling of isolation, for those families affected at such a difficult time of the year."
Si Taylor added: "As soon as we agreed on a song, and put the word out to the artists that regularly support the charity, we heard a resounding yes! One of the lovely things about this project is the breadth and diversity of musicians involved, ranging from those just starting out in the businesses, through to more established acts. I firmly believe the single represents some of the city’s best talent. Chris Bucknall and Sam Beeton did a brilliant job arranging, recording and mixing what has turned out to be a classy pop record with great sentiment for a worthwhile cause - we are all very proud of the finished product."
The team at Confetti Institute of Creative Technologies, also kindly supplied a rehearsal space for filming, and the video was generously filmed and produced by Ian Wilkinson of Design 3i.
Since its launch in 2014, Forever Stars has fundraised and provided a baby loss bereavement suite in both Nottingham hospitals and in 2021, they formally opened the Serenity Garden in Highfields Park, for families wishing to have a place of remembrance for their babies, as well as the Serenity Centre, which provides a much needed safe space for the baby loss community to come together, talk and feel supported whilst managing their loss; no matter how long ago that loss was.
