Strike action confirmed for April

UNISON has confirmed that healthcare support workers will be taking part in strike action throughout April.
The union confirmed the strike dates for HCAs at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust (NUH) as:
· Thursday 10 April until Saturday 12 April
· Thursday 17 April until Friday 18 April
· Tuesday 22 April until Wednesday 23 April
· Monday 28 April until Tuesday 29 April
This includes staff employed as band 2 emergency department assistants, healthcare assistants, maternity support workers, theatre support workers, and clinical support workers (including former job holders who previously worked in these roles but now work in other roles within the Trust) between 1 November 2018 and 31 October 2024.
Tracy Pilcher, Chief Nurse at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust, said: “During strike action, the safety of our patients and staff remains our top priority. Our teams are developing robust plans to mitigate the impact on our services and we are asking people to attend their appointments as planned, unless they have been told otherwise.
“Our healthcare support workers are a vital and valuable group of colleagues. Our hospitals could not run as they do without their skill and dedication to our patients.”
Regardless of any strike action taking place, it is really important that patients who need urgent medical care continue to come forward as normal, especially in emergency and life-threatening cases by calling 999 or going to A&E. Where the situation is not life-threatening, alternative support is available through NHS111 online, your nearest pharmacy or at urgent treatment centres.
