Complementary Therapy

The Children's Complementary Therapy service aims to support children or young patients and their families through their treatment, by offering them symptomatic pain relief and attempting to improve their quality of life.

The service is led by Virginia (Ginny) McGivern, who is qualified as a children's nurse and complementary therapist. She offers training, education, awareness events and advice to parents, carers, nurses and doctors.

Therapies provided include:

  • therapeutic massage
  • relaxation techniques
  • indian head, neck and shoulder massage
  • baby massage instruction for parents

The Complementary Therapy Unit is funded by charitable funds from Nottingham Hospitals Charity.
