Liver Service (Hepatology)

The Nottingham Liver Network provides a high quality specialist hepatology service to the people of Nottingham and Nottinghamshire as well as working with partner healthcare trusts locally.

Our network is based in Nottingham University Hospitals (NUH) NHS Trust. We are a regional referral centre for specialist liver care for a range of conditions. Hepatology inpatient services are provided at the Queens Medical Centre (QMC). Outpatient services are provided at QMC, Treatment Centre and Nottingham City Hospital (NCH).

The department is fortunate to work with specialists from gastroenterology, clinical nutrition, hepato-pancreatico-biliary (HPB) surgery, radiology and histopathology to deliver care to our patients. We work closely with the liver transplant unit at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge.

Clinical Research

The department benefits from close links with the world-leading GastroIntestinal & Liver Research Theme which is part of the  NIHR Nottingham Biomedical Research Centre. We are highly research active through national and international clinical trials which provide our patients with access to new treatments, technology and therapies.

Our team is well engaged with contributing to teaching and training events across NUH.
