Centralised Pre-Operative Assessment
‘We aim to ensure a smooth elective surgical journey for our patients through NUH by completing a safe, accurate and individualised pre-operative assessment’
Adult patients planning to have an operation or surgical procedure under a general or spinal anaesthetic will be invited to attend a Pre-Operative Assessment. The Pre-Operative Assessment service is based at the Edward Unit at Nottingham City Hospital, and Ward B50 at QMC.
The assessment will take place after you and your consultant have decided that an operation or procedure is necessary. The assessment is carried out before surgery to ensure your health is the best it can be before surgery.
Specialties covered:
Breast, Cleft lip and palate, Colorectal, Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT), Endoscopy, Endocrine, General, Gynaecology, Hepatobiliary, Maxillofacial, Neurosurgery, Ophthalmology, Orthopaedics hand and feet, Plastics, Spinal, Urology, Upper GI, Vascular.
We do not have any access to diaries or waiting lists and cannot give you your surgery date. This will be provided to you by your Waiting List Team. Your Pre-Op Assessment is valid for approximately 6 months under the provision that you inform us of any changes to your health or medications.
