Endoscopy

Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust offers a full range of diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy procedures across three different endoscopy units.

We work in coalition with colleagues from a number of services including Gastroenterology, Colorectal Surgery, Upper GI Surgery, Respiratory Medicine and others to provide endoscopy services to the people of Nottingham, Nottinghamshire and the wider East Midlands. Our service performs approximately 22,000 procedures annually across all three sites.

Nottingham City Hospital - JAG Accredited

The Endoscopy Department at City Hospital is located on the South Road of the City Campus, between the South Entrance and Haematology. 

Patients and visitors can access Endoscopy through the external entrance on South Road.

City Endoscopy has 5 dedicated endoscopy procedure rooms and also perform procedures within Main Theatres of City Hospital.

City Endoscopy sees both inpatients and outpatients.

Procedures performed:

- Diagnostic and Therapeutic Gastroscopy (OGD) procedures

- Trans-nasal Endoscopy (TNE)

- Diagnostic and Therapeutic Colonoscopy procedures including Bowel Cancer Screening

- Flexible Sigmoidoscopy

- Endoscopic Mucosal Resection (EMR)

- Endoscopic Submucosal Dissection (ESD)

- Diagnostic and Therapeutic Respiratory Endoscopy procedures including Bronchoscopy, EBUS and Thoracoscopy

Queen’s Medical Centre - Endoscopy

The Endoscopy Department at Queen’s Medical Centre (QMC) is located on D Floor, in-between East and South Block.  

QMC Endoscopy has 2 dedicated endoscopy procedure rooms and also perform procedures within QMC theatres.

QMC Endoscopy sees both inpatients and outpatients.

Procedures performed:

- Diagnostic and Therapeutic Gastroscopy (OGD) procedures

- Diagnostic and Therapeutic Colonoscopy procedures

- Flexible Sigmoidoscopy

- Endoscopic Mucosal Resection (EMR)

- Endoscopic Submucosal Dissection (ESD)

- Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS)

- Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP)

- Radio Frequency Ablation (RFA)
