Adult and Paediatric Neuropsychology and Auditory Implant
Adult Neuropsychology
The Adult Neuropsychology service sees patients with neurological conditions and injuries requiring specialist assessment, treatment or rehabilitation referred from neurology, neurosurgery, neurorehabilitation, and other neuro-care specialities.
Referrals
Referrals are made in writing to the Adult Neuropsychology Service via the NUH specialist already involved in the patient’s care, usually the consultant or clinical nurse specialist.
Paediatric Neuropsychology
The paediatric neuropsychology service sees children and young people with neurological conditions and acquired brain injuries who require specialist neuropsychological assessment and support.
Referrals
The service accepts referrals from Paediatric Consultants in neurology, neurosurgery, neuro-oncology and from NUH Consultant Paediatricians. The current waiting time for patients to be offered an initial appointment is around 9 months.
Nottingham Auditory Implant Programme (NAIP) Clinical Psychology Service
This service sees people from age 15 upwards, for psychological concerns in relation to cochlear implantation. We see people pre and post implant, and can offer therapeutic support to individuals and families as well as their wider systems. We also offer cognitive assessments in relation to concerns that might have been raised.
Referral Process
Referrals tend to be made internally, as people attending the service might raise concerns with their clinicians. People with cochlear implants who are engaged with the service can also request referral to psychology.
