Adult and Paediatric Cystic Fibrosis
Adult Cystic Fibrosis
The Adult Cystic Fibrosis Clinical Psychology Service provides specialist assessment and psychological intervention to adults living with Cystic Fibrosis and under the care of Nottingham University Hospital’s NHS Trust. Part of our role is to ensure that psychological wellbeing is considered as part of patient care. Living with Cystic Fibrosis can have a significant emotional impact and people may experience a range of psychological difficulties.
Referrals
Any member of the Adult CF multi-disciplinary team can make a written referral to the CF Clinical Psychology Service by email.
Clinical Psychology in Paediatric Cystic Fibrosis
The Clinical Psychology in Paediatric Cystic Fibrosis service is designed to provide support for anyone and everyone affected (directly or indirectly) by Cystic Fibrosis (CF) who is under the care of the Nottingham Paediatric CF service and shared care clinics across East Midlands (Boston, Chesterfield, Derby, Kings Mill & Lincoln). This can be the children and young people with a diagnosis of CF, as well as their families and carers. We recognise that having a chronic health condition can have an impact emotionally, as well as physically.
The Clinical Psychologist meets all families for reviews through our regular multi-disciplinary team clinic appointments as well as providing more focused individual and family therapeutic support if and when indicated.
Referrals can be taken from QMC staff via Medway, and external staff via email and completion of the service referral form. Families can self-refer via any member of the CF team.
All referrals are followed up with an initial assessment contact. If the referral is not appropriate due to the concerns being non-CF related the Clinical Psychologist will seek to help to liaise and recommend or refer on to other services when appropriate.
