Arts Trails - Dance
Sarah Catlow, Arts Trails Dance Choreographer says...
'The Dance workshops aimed to bring joy, inclusivity, physical and therapeutic benefits to staff within the hospitals.
Drawing inspiration from the Arts trail artwork, the choreography embodies the themes of support, growth, recovery, strength, and community. Our intention was to showcase dance as a powerful art form within the trails, highlighting its profound positive influence on individuals and, particularly, its ability to inspire movement and vitality.
At the heart of this project was the belief that dance should be accessible to everyone, regardless of age, ability, or condition. By embracing inclusivity, the workshops ensured that all staff could participate and experience the uplifting effects of the workshops.
I designed routines that were engaging, enjoyable, and adaptable to different levels of mobility. These dance sessions encouraged staff to explore their own range of motion, fostering a sense of freedom, creativity, and self-expression. The choreography incorporated elements of different dance styles, encouraging participants to experience a variety of movement and rhythms.
For the film I collaborated with a composer 'Paul Milligan,' creating original music that complemented and enhanced the movement. Our shared hope is that this film will serve as an inspiration, encouraging people to embrace the joy of movement and be inspired to embark on their own dance journeys.'
