NUH Memory Menu
Good nutrition and hydration is key when looking at patients’ recovery whilst they are in our care at NUH.
Minimising interruptions at mealtimes enables patients to be able to enjoy their food on our wards. Typically our mealtimes are 8am, 12 and 5pm.
For patients who need assistance, we do have staff and volunteers on hand, but we also encourage carers to stay on the ward if possible. Again, this minimises interruptions for all of those on the ward at that time.
We are proud to work closely with local farms and food suppliers to ensure that patients and visitors alike get to enjoy the freshest seasonal produce.
It’s not uncommon for patients to not feel like eating much when in hospital. To combat this and ensure that the right nutrition is being consumed, we provide a variety of high-calorie comfort food alongside more balanced meals and a typically ‘healthier’ diet.
In response to patient and family feedback, our Memory Menu is available to patients, packed with some of the nation’s favourite dishes. We’ve been finalists in the national Love British Food competition, which was hosted by the Daily Telegraph.
We are proud to dedicate our time to sourcing locally grown produce to provide our patients and visitors with some great memories.
