24 Hours in A&E Series 1 Episode 13 – I Got You

The strength of a bond between people; be it, father and son, friends or first loves, will be documented in the latest episode of the RTS award-winning 24 Hours in A&E.

The next brand-new episode airs on Tuesday 12 March at 9pm on Channel 4.The documentary returns from its home at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust’s (NUH) Queen’s Medical Centre (QMC) - one of the busiest A&E departments in the country. A place where stories of life, love and loss unfold every single day.

10-year-old Henry is rushed to resus after being accidentally hit by a forklift truck driven by his father. X-rays confirm both his legs are broken. As doctors in resus provide emergency care, and with his parents at his bedside, we hear from his dad Robbie and his mum Ruth, learning about what makes Henry and Robbie’s bond so special.

Nahum and Dean both arrive by ambulance following a road traffic accident; Dean the driver of the car is treated in minors while Nahum is rushed to resus. Dean shares his memories of growing up with Nahum. He also speaks of the time when he was young, and his mother died and how having a friend like Nahum and the support of Nahum’s family was very important to him.

Meanwhile, 94-year-old Pearl is in the minors’ clinic after badly cutting her arm after trapping it in lift. She shares her story of falling in love during World War Two and how the war intervened to separate the couple and what happened many years after it had ended.

During September and October 2021, the Trust welcomed cameras into the Emergency Department at QMC for the first series to be filmed outside of London.

A total of 24 programmes were recorded and the first episodes were broadcast last year. You can catch up on previous episodes, including last week’s, at channel4.com.

Cameras returned to QMC in May 2023 to film another series of the award-winning documentary.
