Radiology
The Radiology Directorate sometimes called diagnostics department or x-ray department is where radiological examinations of patients are carried out. These examinations include various tests to help us diagnose or confirm a diagnosis for many medical problems.
We provide services to adults and children from NUH and regionally, covering inpatients, outpatients, direct access from GP services and the Emergency Department, supporting our Major Trauma Centre.
Our department comprises of 7 MRI scanners, 6 CT scanners, 19 static x-ray machines, 23 mobile x-ray machines, 19 Ultrasound machines. Our annual activity includes on average 260,000 xray scans, 104,000 CT scans, 55,000 MRI scans & 57,000 general Ultrasound scans.

For US scans
We will contact you to make an appointment for your Ultrasound scan, we may call or send you a letter in the post. Please ensure that your contact details are up to date at your GP Surgery.
In the unlikely event you do not receive an appointment letter in the post four weeks from visiting your GP, please contact the Radiology Department on: 0115 924 9924 ext. 83737 or 85369
