Our Doctors

Dr Ian Griffiths - Consultant

Ian is a Consultant Occupational Physician and has worked as such in the NHS in Nottingham since 2003. 

He is an examiner for the Faculty of Occupational Medicine's diploma qualification and has a particular interest in Fire and Rescue Service Occupational Health and infection control within OH.

 

Dr Ian Murphy - Consultant

Ian is a Consultant Occupational Physician and has worked as such in the NHS since 2001. He is a dissertation assessor for the Faculty of Occupational Medicine. His interests include clinical governance, audit and quality.

 

Dr Hajnalka Sereq - Doctor in Occupational Medicine training

Dr Sereg joined the team in August 2016, having previously worked as a hospital doctor, completing her membership exam with the Royal College of Physicians.

Her interests are working with complex health issues, workplace health promotion and statutory medicals.

 

Dr Tom Bentley – Consultant

Dr Bentley is a Consultant Occupational Physician who joined the team here at Nottingham in 2020. Prior to joining the team in Nottingham he worked in the private sector within industry.

His interests include the prevention of work related ill health and health surveillance.

 

Dr Victoria Naoui - ST4 Doctor

Dr Naoui is a trainee Occupational Health doctor who started in the department full time in September 2019.  She has a background in psychiatry and has worked in the region since 2012. Her main interests include addiction and mental health. During her training, she aims to develop a greater understanding of work-place hazards and the impact on health and work.

 

Dr Kerry Bramley - Foundation Year 2 Doctor

Kerry is a Foundation Year 2 trainee currently on rotation with the Occupational Health team. She is due to be with the department on a part-time basis until October 2022. Kerry completed her medical degree at Keele University in 2017, and has subsequently worked in a variety of specialties during her Foundation training.

Our Nurses

Veronica - OH Nurse Specialist

Veronica has worked in OH since 1993 both in industry and the NHS.

Veronica gained a Diploma in OH from Nottingham Trent University and an MSc in Health Education/Health Promotion from Southampton University. She enjoys being involved with all the varied aspects of OH which is developing all the time. Veronica enjoys working with both her colleagues within the OH team and also with colleagues throughout the Trust in a number of different disciplines, finding the variety and scope of the work both rewarding and at times challenging.

 

Janet - OH Nurse Specialist

Janet has worked in OH for the NHS since 1996, initially as a Band 5 Nurse and then as a Band 6 Nurse before completing her specialist nurse training in 2011; since then she has been employed as a Clinical Nurse Specialist. Janet joined the NUH OH team in 2015 and one of her key responsibilities within the department is education and training. OH is fast paced challenging and interesting; it has a very broad remit which involves applying all her existing knowledge and experience whilst learning something new every day. She particularly enjoys the working with individuals and managers to facilitate staff to return to or remain in work and improve the general health and wellbeing of the workforce.    

 

David - OH Nurse Specialist

As a Registered Nurse he has worked in a number of clinical areas: Orthopaedics, Urology, Infectious Diseases, Burns and Plastics Surgery before moving into the field of OH in 2005. He has worked for a number of different organisations providing OH across a range of different workplace environments and settings.   Including the police, NHS, retail, industry, manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, distribution, warehousing and contact handling centres.

David completed the Specialist Community Public Health Nurse Degree in OH at London South Bank University in 2008. David has also undertaken the NEBOSH safety course. Recently David completed a Post Graduate Certificate in Ergonomics at the University of Derby.

Martin - OH Nurse Advisor

Martin has worked as a nurse in Gastro, Theatre Recovery and more recently as a Community Nurse. He has over 10 years Nursing experience with 10 years of Clinical Audit and Administration experience prior to that. Martin has worked for NUH since 1999.

 

Nicola - OH Nurse Advisor

Nicola trained at Coventry University and qualified as an Adult Nurse in September 2009 gaining a 2:1 Adult Nursing BSc (hons). Since then she has worked for NUH, Firstly on a Neurology/Neurosurgical ward for 15 months, then the Accident Emergency Department for approximately 5 years before moving to work at OH. In December 2015 she started working as a Nurse Advisor of OH.

Her work related interests within OH are the psychological wellbeing of staff particularly whom work for the NHS. 

 

Nicky - OH Nurse Advisor

Nicky has been with the OH Department for over 7 years now. She has been nursing for just over 27 years and has worked in Acute Medicine, Cardiology, Catheter Labs, ITU and was also a Practice Nurse for 10 years.

Her interests are staff health and wellbeing, training, health promotion and she is the Basic Life Support trainer within the department, a role that she share with a colleague.

 

Vicky - OH Nurse Advisor

Vicky started working in Occupational Health in May 2022. For the last 12 years she has worked as a Practice Nurse in a variety of GP settings around Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and South Yorkshire. Prior to this she worked as a nurse in an acute hospital setting, specialising in respiratory medicine and also spent 3 years working within a female prison setting.

 

Hannet - OH Nurse Advisor

Hannet has always had an interest in public health, so when an opportunity in OH presented itself in 2020, she joined the team. With a BSc (hons) Combined Studies from University of Nottingham, Hannet has over 12 years’ experience in several acute care settings- Clinical Haematology and General Surgery. She has also worked in the community setting as a public health practitioner and Covid19 clinical supervisor. Within OH, her interest include staff health promotion and well-being. 

 

Laura - OH Technician

Laura joined the OH team in 2016, and has worked for NUH for over 15 years including Ear Nose and Throat, Maxillofacial and Endoscopy Departments.

Her work related interests are contamination injury management and staff health surveillance/ promotion.

Laura enjoys the challenges that come with working in OH and is passionate about staff wellbeing and safety within the workplace.

 

Liz – OH Technician

Liz joined OH in August 2019 and has worked for the Trust since 2008 working on a Paediatric Surgical ward as a Clinical Support Worker and in the Antenatal Clinic as a Maternity Support Worker. Her work related interests are needlestick management for staff and pre-placement health questionnaires.
